First Capital Bank Celebrates the Close of the Oketsa! Thobo Campaign

First Capital Bank Botswana concluded the Oketsa! Thobo campaign with its finale event at Green Gem Nursery, Garden Maintenance and Landscaping.

The Oketsa! Thobo campaign, launched in May 2024, was designed to support customers in their lending financial journey while empowering them through access to the bank’s comprehensive loan services. Customers who took out a loan of up to P700,000 were automatically entered into a competition. The campaign also aimed to educate and engage the public, highlighting the bank’s commitment to customer-focused solutions.

“The campaign’s name, “Oketsa! Thobo,” meaning “Increase Your Harvest” signifies the potential for Batswana to grow their financial well-being through strategic and well-supported financial products. By spanning several months, this campaign maintained a focus on personalised and practical messaging, raising awareness and understanding of our loan offerings. This approach was underpinned by our dedication to supporting customers’ unique financial aspirations, whether for education, home improvements, or personal growth projects,” said Motshidisi Sebina, the Product & Portfolio Manager at First Capital Bank.

One of the campaign’s standout features was its generous prize structure designed to motivate and reward participants. The total prize pool included:

  • P60,000 in monthly cash giveaways, split into monthly prizes.
  • A Jojo water tank worth P12,000 for the second-place winner.
  • A generator valued at P10,000.
  • The grand prize – a fully equipped hydroponics garden from Green Gem Nursery, valued at P160,000! It includes a net shade structure, state-of-the-art planting systems and materials, pesticides and extensive training to establish a sustainable farming enterprise!

Targeting a diverse demographic across Botswana, the Oketsa! Thobo campaign strategically engaged communities nationwide. Through leveraged digital platforms, in-person activations, and financial literacy content, the bank ensured that everyone was aware of this opportunity and did not miss out on their chance to invest in sustainable farming. With the assistance of a fortnight radio show on RB2 FM and social media promotions, the campaign effectively captured the interest and participation of Batswana from all walks of life.

“The response to Oketsa! Thobo has been overwhelmingly positive. Batswana enthusiastically embraced the campaign, with significant engagement on social media platforms and active participation in competitions and educational events. The regular cash prizes maintained a high level of interest, while the grand prize drew excitement as a symbol of innovation and self-sufficiency. Through driving tangible results and enriching financial literacy, the campaign successfully solidified First Capital Bank’s role as a supportive community partner,” concluded Thatayaone Nicolas Matlapeng, First Capital Bank Country Manager – Consumer Lending.

As the campaign draws to a close, First Capital Bank Botswana extends heartfelt gratitude to all participants and partners who contributed to its success. The end of this campaign will not only commemorate the journey but also mark the beginning of future opportunities and growth.
