Learn MoreFrom the 18th – 24th March 2024, First Capital Bank Botswana, a financial institution known for driving innovation and customer-centric services, commemorated Global Money Week by partnering with schools ranging from primary to tertiary education levels in order assist in quality financial literacy education.
Global Money Week is an annual global awareness-raising campaign designed to ensure that young people, from an early age, are financially aware, and are gradually acquiring the knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviours necessary to make sound financial decisions. This year’s theme, “Protect your Money, and Secure your Future!” focuses on safe money management and highlights the importance of adopting a responsible and informed approach to personal finances, by being aware of potential risks in the financial sector and protecting one’s hard-earned money.
First Capital Bank, Head of Marketing and Communications, Dr. Hajra Mahomed-Tajbhai, expressed the bank’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote financial literacy education. “We believe that fostering discussions on financial literacy is essential for continuous growth and development, and what better place to start than with the youth who will soon become Botswana’s leaders and innovators,” she stated. Throughout the week, a range of activities and lessons tailored for different educational levels were conducted.
The week ultimately ended on local radio station, Gabz FM, where First Capital Bank shared the lessons that had been imparted throughout the week. “It is vital for these discussions to extend beyond isolated settings and reach every corner of our society, enabling conversations about financial literacy to take place within our homes and communities,” emphasised Mahomed-Tajbhai. “We eagerly anticipate our continued contributions to financial literacy education.”
